Sample Project Background for Pakistan

Pakistan got the independence on 14th August 1947 from India a day before India achieved her Independence.  It is one of the populous and multi-ethnic countries among South Asian countries. Afghanistan and India are the neighboring countries. Pakistan is situated at the western end of the great Indo-Gangetic Plain and western part of the Indian sub-continent, where Iran on the west, China on the northeast, India on the east, and the Arabian Sea on the south. The population according to CIA World Factbook is 204,924,861 and population density is 250.627 per sq.km.

About 29.5% of Population is still living under the poverty line. 60.3% of the population is rural-based similarly, 39.7% of the population is urban-based. The unemployment rate in Pakistan is 6%.  Only 59.7% of Pakistani people are literate in the whole nation with average 8 years of schooling. Due to the lack of nutritious food and proper health care, the life expectancy is only 68.1 years.

In recent times, Pakistan’s annual growth is assumed to be 5.472%. The economy is semi-industrialized with a large and productive agriculture sector. Even though the GDP counted as $1.506 trillion, the contribution of the Agriculture contributes only to 24.7% of GDP, similarly, the Industry contributes 19.1% and Service contributes 56.3% to the GDP.

The fertility rate in Pakistan is 2.62 births per woman. The maternal mortality ratio per 100,000 live births is 178. The child mortality ratio per 1000 children is 52.1. About 31.6% of children below 5 years are going through Malnutrition.

Pakistan has been suffering from gruesome terrorism where about 35,000 civilians, police and military officials have perished in the last seven years.

According to the UNDP, Human Development Reports, Pakistan ranks in 147th and 130thin the Gender Development Index.  Pakistan ranks 117 among 180 countries in the Corruption Perception Index according to Transparency International Organisation.
