Wetland Program Development Grants 2023
The Wetland Program Development Grants 2023 goal is to increase the quantity and quality of wetlands in the U.S. by conserving and restoring wetland acreage and improving wetland conditions. In pursuing these goals, EPA seeks to develop the capacity of all levels of government to develop and/or refine effective, comprehensive programs for wetland protection and management.
Eligibility
- States, territories, tribes, local government agencies, colleges and universities linked to a state, interstate agencies, and intertribal groups can apply for WPDGs according to this notice. For tribes, federal recognition is necessary, but they don’t need “treatment as a state” status.
- There are two applicant tracks: Track One for states, territories, and tribes with options like WPP, and Track Two for local governments, interstate agencies, intertribal consortia, and state-affiliated colleges and universities with the Non-WPP option.
- Intertribal consortia can get grants if all members meet the grant requirements and authorize the consortium to apply. They need to provide proof of the partnership among Indian tribal governments and authorization from all members.
- Colleges and universities need to show they are part of a state government, which can be proven with documents like the state constitution, college or university charter, legal opinion from the state or territorial Attorney General’s Office, or case law confirming their state agency status.
- Non-profit and for-profit organizations can’t apply.
