Apply before: December 6, 2023

The Strengthening Childcare Models that Advance Women’s Economic Power project aims to test and learn from childcare models in South Asia and Africa that help women participate in the workforce. It focuses on providing paid work opportunities, easing the burden of unpaid care, promoting women’s leadership roles, and changing gender norms related to work and caregiving.

  • Advancing Evidence: Advance evidence of scalable, sustainable, effective, and gender-intentional models of childcare, including (but not limited to) pilots that test and compare multiple models of childcare provision, proposals that study applicability and customization of successful care models in target geographies, programs that demonstrate business models which can sustain themselves (either with public or private resources), and pilots that help to understand the minimum and optimal levels of childcare quality.
  • Shift Gender Norms: Accelerate the economic benefits and impacts of childcare for women by shifting gender norms to expand women’s economic agency through (but not limited to): increasing acceptability of women working outside the home, increasing women’s control over newly gained income (inside or outside the care workforce), and shifting social norms regarding the acceptability of women using care services.

Apply before: February 5, 2024

Financial Fairness Trust Grants 2023 fund research, campaigning, and policy work to improve living standards and personal finances for people on low to middle incomes in the UK.

Eligibility

  • While our remit is UK-wide and the majority of our work will be of benefit to UK residents, they are keen to support work in Scotland.
including UK-wide work that has a Scottish dimension to it.
  •  Financial Fairness Trust Grants 2023 fund organizations undertaking charitable activities. You don’t need to be a registered charity.
Organizations we fund must have a governing body with at least three non-executive directors or trustees (at least three who are not employees of the organization or affiliated with it in any other way).
  • ABRDN will fund a wide range of organizations, including voluntary organizations, think tanks, campaigning groups, research bodies, and universities.
  • ABRDN is also able to partner with other funders, the government, employers, and regulators to jointly fund relevant work.

Benefits

  • There is no minimum or maximum size of the grant, and the amount you request should be the amount you need. Fairness Trust grants usually range between £10,000 and £200,000, with most between £50,000 and £120,000 in total. We sometimes make larger grants, but these are rare. Our largest grant to date has been £720,000.
