Edge Fund Program 2023

Edge Fund Program 2023 supports work that challenges abuses of power and aims to bring an end to systems that cause injustice. Edge Fund Program 2023 focus on groups addressing issues that face a particular community that are led by that community (e.g. a group working on issues around sex work should be led by people with direct lived experience of sex work).
Eligibility
- Edge prioritise groups that struggle to get funding elsewhere, particularly if other funders might consider them to be “too radical”.
- All types of non-profit organisations, including groups that are not formally registered.
- Grassroots groups organising for social and ecological change are eligible.
Edge donot fund if the
- Groups not based in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England
- Traditional charities or charitable work which can access funding from elsewhere
- Groups that are primarily providing support or services to others
- Commercial or business activity
- Groups with an annual income over £20,000
- Groups that have several paid staff
- International issues or groups, unless their activity is in – and targeted at – the UK
- Political parties
- Groups whose aim is to promote religious ideas
- Groups that receive funding from mainstream sources, such as the National Lottery Community Fund or local council
- Edge is not currently accepting applications from individuals.
- Groups which have been formed within 6 months of applying to Edge Fund, and/or cannot demonstrate 6 months of regular activity.
Benefits
- Edge Fund Grant 2023 provides 40 grants of £1000 to groups in the UK.

Diabetes Community Fund 2023

The Diabetes Community Fund 2023 seeks to support community-based organizations working to improve the lives of people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Eligibility
To be eligible for Diabetes Community Fund 2023 applicants must be:
- Recognized as a non-governmental organization or charitable entity with confirmation of relevant status in its country or has a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor.
Conducts type 1 diabetes-specific programming in either of the following ways:
- As a community-based organization dedicated to type 1 diabetes OR
- As an organization with a community-based initiative focused specifically on type 1 diabetes.
Benefits
The T1D Community Fund will provide:
- Core support for direct-service organizations with a primary programmatic focus on type 1 diabetes or
- Program-specific support for type 1 diabetes initiatives implemented by organizations with multiple programmatic focuses or a broader non-communicable disease strategy.
Typical awards are expected to range from USD $ 10,000 to 40,000 per year.

Call For Proposals 2024

Call for Proposals 2024 for Georgian Civil Society Organizations aimed at supporting Georgian coffers funding and resources to empower these organizations in their efforts to drive positive change and development within the Georgian community. The grant is an opportunity for Georgian civil society groups to secure financial support for their projects and initiatives that promote social, economic, or political progress.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Call for Proposals 2024 for Georgian Civil Society Organizations, applicants must:
- The call is open to independent, non-partisan Georgian civil society organizations that are both registered and based in Georgia.
- An organization can submit only one proposal and only under one instrument, that is, either under MATRA or under the Human Rights Fund.
- In the case of organizations currently or previously funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Tbilisi, priority will, in principle, be given to those with at least a one-year gap between the project end date and the start date of a new project.
- Projects that largely or exclusively involve the delivery of goods or materials are not eligible.
- Co-funding with other donors is permissible.
- Priority will be given in principle to projects outside Tbilisi and to organizations based outside Tbilisi.
- Organizations are encouraged to provide innovative and original approaches in their proposals. Where possible, cooperation with relevant state institutions is also encouraged.
Benefits
- The budget requested from the Embassy of the Netherlands for the project can be between GEL 50,000 and GEL 250,000.

Research and Capacity Building Fund

Food Waste Prevention and Diversion: The Research and Capacity Building Fund targets research and capacity-building opportunities for reducing and/or diverting food and other organic waste from landfills. Project outcomes with the ability to be leveraged by others across Canada to support policy, program, or project development are encouraged.
Eligibility
- All projects must take place in Canada.
Local governments, including Indigenous governments, are eligible to receive funding. Applicants must fall into one of the following categories:
- Domestic Indigenous governments
- Municipal and local governments
Benefits
Projects can receive funding ranging from $75,000 to a maximum of $150,000.
There’s no requirement for matching funds, but applicants are encouraged to seek additional financial support or in-kind contributions from project partners. It’s essential for applicants to disclose all funding sources for the project.
Food Waste Prevention and Diversion: The Research and Capacity Building Fund-eligible expenses can cover:
- Human resources, such as salaries and benefits directly related to project activities,
- Costs for consultants and contractors involved in project activities
- Management and professional services, like accounting, audits, and legal fees specific to the project
- Travel and field expenses (refer to the National Joint Council’s website for kilometric rates)
- Materials, supplies, communication, production, distribution, and printing costs
- Rentals and purchases of equipment, including research and laboratory tools.
- Vehicle rental and operational expenses
- A reasonable portion of overhead and administrative costs directly linked to project execution, such as office supplies and rent,

PEPFAR Community Grants 2023

The PEPFAR Community Grants Program 2023 seeks to award projects that implement innovative solutions that further PEPFAR’s commitment to reducing HIV infections and providing equitable, inclusive access to treatment. The U.S. Embassy aims to achieve this by infusing new thinking and approaches into program designs that are responsive to community prevention and treatment needs, developing capacity for community engagement in democracy and governance to ultimately strengthen the national HIV response, and addressing stigma and discrimination that impact equitable access to comprehensive services for HIV-affected populations.
Eligibility
- PEPFAR Community Grants 2023 welcomes applications from registered non-profit Kenyan organizations such as community-based organizations (CBOs, FBOs, and CSOs, especially those led by KPs), youth and/or adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to apply for these funds.
Benefits
- USD 6,000 to a maximum of USD 15,000.
Note: Funding must be used for up to a 12-month implementation period or a 24-month period if awarded a second phase.

Birth Justice Initiative 2023

Birth Justice Initiative 2023 provides two-year grants to birth justice organizations led by and for black, Indigenous, and other women of color, including cis women, trans women, and non-binary people of color.
Eligibility
To be considered for funding, applicants must meet all of the following eligibility criteria
- At least 50% of your organization’s leadership must include trans women, cis women, and non-binary people who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). An organization’s leadership includes people with significant influence or decision-making power (i.e. the executive director, management staff, and advisory committee members or governing boards).
- The organization’s primary mission must center on black, indigenous, and birthing people of color.
- Organizations must be operating in the South, Midwest, Southwest, Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories.
- Organizations must have operating budgets no greater than $2,000,000.
- Organizations must be a 501(c)(3) organization or fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) organization.
Benefits
- The Birth Justice Initiative 2023 will award grants ranging from $50,000 to $100,000, distributed over two years.

Homeworld Collective Grants 2023 supports ambitious, early-stage projects at the translational intersection of protein engineering and sustainability.
Eligibility
To be eligible for Homeworld Collective Grants 2023 applicants must:
- In short, anybody but for-profit companies.
- Anyone at a university or non-profit institution can apply: we encourage students and post-docs to be the lead applicants.
- Homeworld Collective welcomes applications from any country.
- There is no requisite credential or academic affiliation: all that matters is the quality of your idea, the clarity by which you describe your first efforts to bring it to life, and the evidence you provide for your ability to succeed in your endeavor.
- Because this funding comes from philanthropy, it isn’t easy to fund for-profit companies so we are opting to exclude them.

- Grant amounts will range from $20k – $200k for a concise proposal, with decisions announced in November 2023.

EFICO Foundation Fund 2023

The EFICO Foundation Fund 2023 aims to positively drive systemic solutions towards a sustainable coffee value chain. Through training and education programs, sustainable income increase, resilience to climate change, infrastructure support, and natural resource protection, EFICO Foundation works to positively impact coffee farmers’ livelihoods, prosperity, and the environment.
Eligibility
The project must aim to:
- Improve the lives of coffee farmers and the people living in their communities.
- It should meet 3 dimensions of sustainability: social, environmental, and economic, and the set out pre-determined criteria.
- Preference is given to projects having a clear strategy to become self-sustaining and creating a leverage effect. EFCO encourages innovation and the potential to inspire a broader community by creating a model that can multiplied.
- The person who starts the project needs to show how it will work with different groups of people, kind of like a team. This is a bit like how the UN Global Compact works.
- Your project should do good things that match one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals. And you should be able to show how well you’re doing.
Benefits
- EFICO Foundation Fund 2023 itself covers all the operational and fund-related expenses. 100% of the funds collected are destined for the projects.

Climate Responsive Funds 2023

Climate Responsive Funds 2023 supports small grassroot organizations carrying out climate change initiatives who wish to amplify their work and quickly respond to emergencies, unforeseen events or emerging opportunities that combat adverse effects of climate change.
Eligibility
The grant targets small formal & informal organizations (e.g. Groups, CBOs…) that do not have the capacity to apply for and report on more formal grants. These groups represent local rights-holders and work on local climate solutions; including women and youth groups, and groups of persons with disabilities who by their informal nature of operations, are not able to access other donor resources.
The target groups should have the following characteristics.

Group of persons or communities that are at risk, vulnerable, or under threat due to climate change-related activities with a clear action plan of how to minimize/combat the effects of such.

Groups that are advocating and lobbying for resources to amplify their climate actions.

Groups that are part of a movement or network that pushes for sustainable climate action initiatives.
Note Geographical Scope: Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru, Mombasa, Homa-bay, Marsabit, Siaya, Kajiado, Lamu, Kwale, Kilifi, Narok, Wajir, Samburu, Garissa and Baringo counties.

UWTT Grant Funding Cycle 2023

UWTT Grant Funding Cycle 2023/24 is seeking to bring people together to amplify the collective ability to protect vulnerable communities. UWTT aligns its work to its national Vision 2030 Theme: Put People First.
Eligibility
UWTT Grant Funding Cycle 2023 will not support the following
- Construction projects
- Travel costs or scholarships to support educational opportunities or study for individuals
- Projects that are inherently political in nature or that contain the appearance of partisanship/support to an individual or single party in electoral campaigns
- Activities that are in support of political parties
- Sponsorship for an event or Cash prizes for a competition
- Direct funding of religious organizations or private schools
Benefits
- Successful grant applicants will be granted a maximum of TT$ 50,000.00 for their project.
Application Process
Every application must include the following supporting documents as part of the Grant Application:
- Submission of the latest audited financial statements, with 2019 being the oldest statement considered.
- For CSOs (Civil Society Organizations) with revenue equal to or less than $500,000, independently reviewed management accounts will be accepted.
- An up-to-date Annual Return, with 2020 being the oldest return considered.
To ensure that the application is considered complete, all of these documents must be provided.

Redwood Research Grants 2023

Redwood Research Grants 2023 funds research that deepens Save the Redwood’s understanding of how to protect redwood forests in a changing environment. This year Save the Redwoods is providing a theme “Redwoods and Water” and will give priority to projects that fall under this theme.
Eligibility
- Proposals on all topics that advance conservation or restoration science for either coast redwood or giant sequoia forests are welcome,
- Save the Redwoods strongly encourages submissions for Indigenous-led projects.
- Redwood Research Grants 2023 only accepts applications from nonprofit 501(c) organizations* that focus on research and education.
- The League will only fund reimbursement costs that are listed in the Grant Agreement Form.
- Reimbursement costs include allowable costs and non-cancelable obligations incurred as a result of proposal performance.
Benefits
- Funding requests should be for $30,000 to $50,000 and matching funds are encouraged.
Note: The League does not fund indirect costs (these costs include but are not limited to administration fees, rent, insurance, etc.).
