The NextWorldNow Community Investments Grant is open for applications until 31 March 2019. NGOs from all countries except India can apply for the grant. The foundation funds community projects with different focus areas to sustain a diverse portfolio.
Who can apply with NextWorldNow Community Investments?
NextWorldNow Community Investments (NWN) works with individuals, communities, and other organizations to fund their projects. The foundation strongly recommends that communities apply, as the focus of the funding is on community projects. NWN also welcomes scalable partnerships with other organizations and joint projects. All countries except for India are eligible.
What can be funded with NextWorldNow Community Investment Grants?
The NWN Grants can fund a variety of projects, as the foundation wants to build a diverse portfolio. Projects that were funded in the past are developing greenhouses to support food production and marketing in Mongolia, cultivating taro roots and processing into a taro chip product for commercial sales in the Philippines, and establishing low-pressure drip irrigation system using drought-resistant seed crops in Uganda.
Projects need to be feasible, have an impact, be sustainable, be relevant, show creativity, have measurable outcomes and show strength and engagement by the wider community.
Although there is no exact amount given, past successful projects have applied for sums between USD 5000 and 10,000.
How can you apply for the NextWorldNow Community Investments Grant?
The foundation uses a multi-step system for applications. In the first phase, you only have to submit a simple Notification of Interest. The foundation gives a template that can be found on the homepage. When applying, you should strictly follow the guidelines. Successful projects will be contacted until April 1st and have to submit a full proposal until July. Several further steps like skype meetings and the submission of references are necessary before the end of the process.
Tips for applying to the NextWorldNow Community Investments Grant
The NWN is looking for innovative proposals that are community driven. Make sure you show the community involvement in your project clearly from the first stage on. Be clear on your beneficiaries and explain exactly how your project will benefit the community as a whole.
NWN is looking for approaches that use resources efficiently and can be scaled up to benefit more people. Make sure your expression of interest shows this.
