The Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Africa is calling for applications for a mini grant for small organizations of civil society in Africa. The grant will be given and administered by the Greengrants Global Fund, but applications need to be sent to PAN. Proposals can be submitted until the 15th of October for an amount of up to 3,500 USD. In this article, we give you some tips for your proposal for this opportunity.
Who can apply for the Greengrants Global Fund Mini Grant?
PAN welcomes applicants from all civil society organizations in Africa for the Greengrants Globel Fund Mini Grant. The organizations need to be registered though. Registration documents have to be submitted if the organization is chosen before the grant can be paid out. Stakeholder participation within the organizations is of key importance.
What can be funded?
With this small grant, projects in Africa can be funded that work in the areas of:
- Water resources
- Climate changes
- Sustainable agriculture considering alternatives to dangerous pesticides
- The protection of forests
The projects should be based on grassroots initiatives and have a holistic concept that considers the input of all stakeholders.
How to apply?
To apply for this grant, you have to send your proposal by the 15th of October to the given email. Your proposal has to be 3 to 4 pages long. It should include project objectives, methodology, expected results, activities and a detailed budget with amounts in U.S. dollars. The amount you apply for should not exceed 3,500 USD.
A committee will review all received proposals and decide based on the quality of the proposals. Chosen organizations will be contacted and will have to fill out additional forms and submit their registration documents. Preference will be given especially to NGOs that have not received funding yet.
This opportunity is especially suitable for new NGOs as it aims to support small projects at the grassroots level and applicants do not need recommendations. If you apply, make sure that you use the 3 to 4 pages well and clearly explain your objectives. Do follow the guidelines strictly.
