What can be funded with the Feminist Review Trust Grant?
The focus of the work of the Feminist Review Trust Grant are projects that support women. The core areas that they fund in are:
- Lesbian and transgender rights
- Violence against women and girls
- Disabled women and girls
- Refugee women and girls
Within these areas, the Feminist Review Trust focusses on projects that are hard to fund and might not have good chances of support with other foundations. Furthermore, they fund projects with a seed grant to get them started, projects with a high grade of innovation in the field of feminist values and training and development projects. In some cases, the Feminist Review Trust gives support towards core funding, one-off events, and projects with a research element. The research part should not be too dominant in the project though. The Trust rarely funds stand-alone research.

The Feminist Review Trust Grant – What to look out for
The success rate for applicants to the Feminist Review Trust Grant is very low – only 1-2%. At the same time though, the trust states on its homepage that most of the applications they receive are not eligible or very badly written, so if you follow the guidelines and send a well-written proposal, you already have much better chances. Make sure you check their guidelines in detail to know if you are eligible and only apply if you fall into the target group.
While the maximum amount one can apply for is approximately 20,000 US$, normally projects get less funding. Do not apply for the maximum amount if not 100% necessary and try to work on different sources of funding as well.
The sustainability plan is very important for trust, so you should have very good ideas about how you will sustain the project in the long run. Make sure you point them out clearly in your application and that you show that you put a lot of thought into this.
