The focus area of the 2019 CMA CGM foundation grant is the promotion of access to education for children in difficulty. The specific objectives of this grant are:
- Reduce educational inequalities
- Promote access to basic learning through the maintenance or restoration of a school environment
- Help children and young people regain self-confidence, fulfill themselves and become autonomous
- Reconcile children and young people with school and develop school retention
- Prevent children and young people from leaving the school system and becoming socially isolated
- Fight against all kinds of stereotypes in the choice of orientation
- Introduce young people to the professions and the business world
- Facilitate access to education for deserving young people
- Engage young people in civil actions
- Encourage digital development as a means of restoring young people’s desire to learn
- Facilitate the acquisition of equipment to improve the living environment in educational reception centers
With the grant, organizations can fund a variety of activities, including investment and equipment charges and up to 20% of operating costs. The projects need to be co-financed and the focus should be on direct assistance to children. The beneficiaries of projects must be children from 0 to 18 years who are marginalized in the education system.

Applications for the CMA CGM Foundation Grant need to be submitted online until the 9th of March 2019. Applications can be submitted in French and English. With the application form, you need to submit a general budget for the project and a detailed budget for the amount requested from the foundation. The CMA CGM Foundation has a rigorous screening process where applications that do not follow the guidelines are filtered out and do not even make it to the board. Be sure that you meticulously follow the guidelines to make sure your proposal makes it to the second round.
The Foundation studies the projects in view of the addressed issues, their relevance, feasibility and efficiency (quality/cost ratio). They are looking for projects that respond to uncovered needs, have an innovative approach and promote the autonomy and the social integration of children and youth.
