Tips to Apply to the GrassRoots Action Support Program, Kosovo

The Kosovar Stability Initiative (IKS), Lens and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) have opened the call for applications for the GrassRoots Action Support Program, Kosovo. The program funds initiatives that strengthen the internal management, accountability, and transparency of Civil Society at the local and grassroots level in Kosovo. The deadline for applications is the 16th of May, and the maximum amount that an organization can apply for is 12,000 Euro. The program is funded by the European Union and managed by the European Union Office in Kosovo

Who can apply for the GrassRoots Action Support Program, Kosovo?

The Program is open for applications from local CSOs, non-profit-making associations and foundations registered in Kosovo. The applicants have to be able to present all necessary legal documents up to date and proof that they have followed all obligations towards the state regarding tax payments. Furthermore, applying organizations need to have a bank account.

What can be funded?

The GrassRoots Action Support Program, Kosovo, can fund activities that support the consolidation of a tolerant, democratic culture in Kosovo through the civil society at the local and grassroots level in Kosovo. The program has two specific objectives. The first one is to improve CSOs’ understanding of policy processes, institutions and actors to enable them to effectively engage and cooperate with government institutions especially at the local level. The second one is to enhance CSOs capacities to increase their participation in the policy-making process efficiently.

Priority areas of intervention are:

  1. Good Governance: Citizen Participation and Local Accountability
  2. Social Justice: Socio-Economic Rights
  3. Culture and Cultural Heritage at Local Level

The grant ceiling is 12,000 Euro, the grant floor 6,000 Euro. The project should be implemented within six to 12 months.

How to apply?

To apply to the GrassRoots Action Support Program, Kosovo, applicants have to fill out the application form and send via email until the 16th of May. Within the form, applicants have to give a project background, objectives, activities, information about beneficiaries and a work plan amongst other details. Furthermore, the budget form needs to be downloaded and filled out. A list of documents has to be submitted in Phase I, amongst them the registration documents of the lead applicant.

The applications can be submitted in Albanian, Serbian, or English language.

When applying for this opportunity, it is advisable to have at least 5% of the total cost financed via co-funding. Furthermore, it is crucial to follow all the instructions of the guidelines carefully. Applicants also need to have all their documents to be eligible to apply for this call.
