It shows your donor that you did your homework and that your project is planned well. But where can you get the information and data for your project background? And how does one actually look like?

The archipelagic state of Indonesia is bordered by Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, and Timor-Leste. It is, moreover, surrounded by Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Australia. Its history is quite tumultuous, as it has seen much unrest since its independence from the Netherlands after the Second World War. Indeed, the last active armed forces are still being dealt with.
With a population of about 260,580,739, it is one of the most populous democratic states in the world. The spread of people living in rural and urban areas is quite equal, with a respective 44.8% and 55.2%.
The country’s literacy rate is 95.4% and enjoys an even distribution of schooling years between the male and female population. The male literacy rate is 97.17%, for females is 93.59%.
Indonesia still ranks on the lower end on gender equality, with a score of 0.453, and child marriage rates being at 24%.
Albeit that poverty is one of the more important issues dealt with by the Indonesian government, only 10.9% of its population lives under the poverty line. Its child and maternal mortality rates, however, remain quite high, as they respectively place Indonesia 71st and 67th out of 225 and 184 measured countries. Moreover, life expectancy in Indonesia is quite average at 73.00 years old.
As one of Asia’s fastest-growing economies, its $3.243 trillion GPA puts it in the global top 10 richest countries. However, corruption remains a factor to take into account. Indeed, it affects the way wealth reaches the population adequately, as Transparency International gives Indonesia a relatively low score of 37.
