Tips for applying for the Her Voice Grant in Sub-Saharan Africa

The Her Voice Fund calls for applications to their program from organizations in sub-Saharan Africa. The fund supports projects that work with organizations for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) to develop a more effective response to HIV/Aids. The grant is supposed to support the inclusion of AGYW voices in policy processes. The maximum amount that organizations can apply for is USD 2000 and the deadline for this opportunity is 30th of November 2018.

Who can apply for funding from the Her Voice Fund?

To be eligible for applying to the Her Voice Fund you must be a registered or unregistered group, network or community-based organization of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) or young people; or a community-based organization implementing programs for AGYW and/or youth. Your organization has to work in the following countries: Botswana, Cameroon, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, or Zimbabwe.

Your organization must demonstrate community work experience and willingness to mobilize peer groups.

What does the Her Voice fund support?

The Her Voice fund supports projects and activities that aim to influence policy processes. The fund wants to ensure that organizations representing AGYW or youth have the ability to take part in policy development. The support can be used for transportation to attend meetings related to Global Fund processes; meeting arrangements to facilitate dialogue processes by community-based organizations and communication processes related to participation in key discussions and forums, among others.
Additional activities that could be supported also include meaningful participation in national legal and policy reforms processes.

In the form, you have to give information about your past work, explain in detail the activity you propose and give a budget. Furthermore, you have to provide three references that can give information about your past work.

Best of luck for your application.
